May 31, 2013 · Still, no spots for the past month. I can see the pattern with its harmonics on my other rig located near the Pi that is running WSPR. Any advice you have would be helpful. Also, I’ve noticed the frequency drift of the Pi is significant as the ambient temperature changes. Have you had these same issues? The compensation assumes a straight-line drift. The reported number is the average drift in 2 minutes. It doesn't give you information about the shape of the drift. If the drift is a straight line then I think the WSPR decoder won't be impacted by the drift - it should be just as easy to decode as a straight-line signal. Mar 10, 2020 · I tested the Pluto transmitter stability by running a wspr test at 1900 Mhz, using as free-running but calibrated SDRPlay RSP2 as a receiver. Drift and frequency accuracy was less than 1hz. The GPS-DO (Leo Bodnar dual output) was set to 40Mhz. WSPR will be looking the 4 tones which might themselves be varying due to propagation and/or TX/RX drift. It is not looking for precise frequencies, just tones separated by approximately the WSPR standard. SpecLab is a complex program, maybe there is a way to compensate for sample rate and send the corrected audio to WSPR. Or, how about using VAC?
30. 02 Oct 2012 1338 UTC - Spectran analysis of the final 80 seconds of a 2 meter WSPR signal showing the discrete tones. This signal did not decode due to the 25 Hz negative frequency drift over the period. Moving symmetric side images 35 dB down from main signal are observed. Technically, WSPR is a automatic beaconing type mode and paths made are not considered to be 'contacts' as such, but an indication of how good or bad the band is performing. If a path is coming in on WSPR that people want to formally work on 2m digital, they can switch over to JT65 (JT65b usually) and give it a go, 144.225. The main aim of domino is to provide a simple-to-use, but slick-to-operate, digital chat mode for HF, especially the lower bands (160/80/60/40/30m) where multipath is such a problem. The cheap Chinese copies of the Kenwood TCXO boards are rubbish, I bought and installed a superb TCXO from Mark Goldberg, W7MLG. The results are fantastic, my TS-590SG is now spot on frequency and as far as I can tell, totally drift free. The test transmission was conducted at a power setting of 0% on the transmitter. An estimation of the power would be 1W or less, over a 50 Km path. The WSPR signal was decoded and the drift was well within limits. I dont remember seeing it when using JT65 or JT9 over the 60 second periods. It is rare to see any drift on WSPR, and very unusual to see a signal with more than 3 Hz of drift over an operating period. Am I looking at the screen wrong?

Apr 07, 2018 · I used the WSPR Beacon android app to control my transmitter. There was some discrepancy (tens of Hz) between the actual output frequencies on the app and those shown on WSPRnet. I also found that tuning the loop to each WSPR frequency using the iP30 antenna analyzer was easy and the KX2 gave lower SWR figures.
WSPR is very demanding. I think the approach I'd like to try is to add drift compensation to the firmware and eventually move that to software. The idea is to keep track of how long and at what levels you've been transmitting or receiving, and then tweak the frequency to "undrift" the signal. It may not be perfect but should improve drift.
Jan 31, 2012 · I have been running my Propeller WSPR beacon over night and have gathered 42 data reporting points on drift and frequency as reported by WSPR 2.11 over a 7 hour period. The beacon is transmitting every 10 minutes and idle between times. The only temperature control is to wrap the device in foam. The basic kit is single band. A clever mod enables up to 11 bands to be used. There is also the option of the temperature… WSPR was not designed for 2m (144MHz). Although I have tried it, it is not ideal. The biggest issue is frequency accuracy and drift: at 2m my FT817 and I suspect many rigs wander around during the 2 minute transmit burst.
Oct 24, 2012 · Over the last week or so, I have at times seen an odd looking signal while using WSPR on 28 MHz. It starts off about 10 Hz too low in frequency and then drifts upwards for about 30 seconds and then stays reasonably steady for the remaining 90 seconds of the WSPR two minute time period.
